SPIRITUAL JOURNEY IN BRAZIL13-25 April 2015
Rio de Janeiro - Ilha Grande - Petrópolis
Carlos would like to invite you to join him, Sheila McVay and Sylina "Two Bears" in Rio de Janeiro, the “Wonderful City,” where he grew up, and meet his Brazilian Indian brothers from the Fulni-ô tribe. Together, we will learn about and participate in their rituals and ceremonies in the heart of the Ilha Grande (the Big Island), a short two hour boat ride from Rio’s beautiful coast.
During our Spiritual Journey, we will get to experience the ancient art of Fulni-ô body painting and join in several different ceremonies, including sacred dances and fire circles, and learning a lot of songs together with members of the tribe.
We will also have the opportunity to partake in singing and drumming lessons, Sweat Lodge ceremonies, and learn about North and South American Indian spirituality.
There will also be yoga and meditation classes, and private healing sessions with Carlos and his native brothers will be offered throughout the Journey.
RIO DE JANEIRO
Our trip will begin in Rio, where we will do some sightseeing and visit incredible places like the Corcovado (Jesus Christ statue) and the Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf).
Of course, we will also spend some time exploring and relaxing at the world-famous beaches of Rio as well! We are going to have morning walks at Ipanema beach and refresh ourselves afterwards with delicious coconut water. We'll also have a chance to watch amazing sunsets at the beach, and we will hike to the waterfall at the Floresta da Tijuca, the biggest urban forest in the world.
At the end of the tour in Rio, we will join together for a Sweat Lodge Ceremony with the Brazilian indians from Fulni-ô tribe, at Carlo's old home in the mountains.
BIG ISLAND
The Big Island is a very special place near the city of Rio de Janeiro. Here, we can still find a pristine world of nature and amazing wildlife, and the most beautiful deserted beaches in the world. It is the perfect place for participating in native healing practices and to reconnect with the elements as we camp out near the beach.
We will have yoga classes in the morning with Sheila Mc Vay and we will take daily walks on the beach and hikes to the waterfall, snorkel and swim with the sea turtles. At night, we will enjoy singing and dancing around a sacred fire with the Fulni-ô indians. All of these activities will be nurtured by eating a natural and healthy diet, including many kinds of fresh native tropical fruits.
Native Healing Practices: We will experience ceremonial designs of the Fulni-ô tribe while we are getting our bodies painted by the Brazilian indians. This special ancient designs will facilitate us to feel the healing effects of dancing and singing around the sacred fire, in the same way the Fulni-ô tribe have been practicing for thousands of years.
Supporting the prophecies: We will be working together with Creek/Cherokee, Cheyenne and Funil-Ô traditions supporting the prophecy of the North American Eagle and South American Condor flying together once again. We will witness a medicine woman from the Creek/Cherokee heritage working side by side with a Cheyenne man from Brazil and his relatives from Fulni-ô tribe.
PETRÓPOLIS
We will end our Journey in the imperial city of Petrópolis, one hour drive from Rio. We will visit historical sites like the Palácio de Cristal (Cristal Palace, at the photo), Museu Imperial (Imperial Museum) and the Catedral São Pedro de Alcântara (São Pedro de Alcântara Cathedral). We will stay at the hotel Pousada Mata Atlântica dos Sauer, a comfortable and sweet ‘home away from home’ where Carlos’ family spent most of their weekends and vacation time.
We will also have yoga practice in the mornings with Sheila McVay, drumming and singing classes with Carlos and a ceremony with Sylina "Two Bears" in the Mayan tradition from Guatemala.
Private healing sessions: The hotel Pousada Mata Atlântica dos Sauer is the perfect place for resting after our Journey and preparing ourselves to return home. We will have time to experience private healing sessions with Sylina "Two Bears", Carlos Sauer and the Fulni-ô indians (medicine people).
